Madi Horstkamp

Madi Horstkamp has a lifetime of love for Basford Creek Tree Farm woven into her story. Since her family purchased the farm in 2004, Madi has grown up learning every facet of the operation, cultivating a deep passion for nature and the land. That passion has now culminated in an exciting new chapter: Madi is the new owner of Basford Creek Tree Farm! When she’s not working on expansion plans for the farm she grew up on, Madi stays busy with a variety of ventures. She works as part of the team at her family’s company, Energy Select, and also works part-time helping at Anchored Roots with flower picking. Madi is thrilled to carry on the legacy of the farm while guiding it into its next big growth phase.

Megan Pobst

Though new to farm life, Megan Pobst quickly embraced the environment at Basford Creek Tree Farm. Her introduction to the business began when she started dating Chris Horstkamp, and she quickly joined the family in working the land. As a lover of the outdoors, she developed a deep passion for nature and the farm life.

This year, Megan has formally stepped into the role of Farm Manager. With a key professional background in Social Media and Event Planning, she is now leveraging her expertise to grow the farm. Megan and owner Madi Horstkamp have spent years dreaming of ways to expand Basford Creek beyond the traditional Christmas season, and they are excited to finally turn those shared visions into reality.

Chris Horstkamp

Chris Horstkamp has worked at Basford Creek Tree Farm since his family bought it in 2004, spending his formative years growing up on the property. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Chris began working as the Sales Director for his family’s solar company, Energy Select. He is now embracing an exciting new venture as a co-owner of Basford Creek Tree Farm. Chris looks forward to applying his professional experience and knowledge of the land to support his sister, co-owner Madi Horstkamp, and his girlfriend, Farm Manager Megan Pobst, as they expand and shape the farm's future.

Daniel Horstkamp

Daniel Horstkamp is dedicated to both the future of clean energy and the heritage of Basford Creek Tree Farm. Alongside Chris and Madi, Daniel grew up working on the farm with his family, building a deep respect for the property and its traditions. Professionally, Daniel works as a Solar Engineer for the family’s company, Energy Select. He is excited to continue working on Basford Creek Tree Farm, helping to keep the farming traditions he grew up with alive while supporting the farm's new chapter.

David Fricke

David Fricke has always been connected to Basford Creek Tree Farm through his cousins, the Horstkamps, and holds many fond memories of visiting the farm during the Christmas season. Now a resident of St. Mary's County, David is excited to be closer to the family and the farm! In his professional life, he works as an Energy Advisor for the family company, Energy Select. Outside of work and the farm, David is an avid fisherman, enjoying the local waterways. He can't wait to continue working alongside his family at Basford Creek.

Henry Fricke

Henry Fricke is a cousin to the Horstkamps and a cherished part of Basford Creek Tree Farm. He grew up working on the property and shares special memories of camping and contributing to the farm alongside his family. Currently a student at James Madison University, Henry enthusiastically returns to work at Basford Creek during his breaks. Working on the farm and spending time with his family is his absolute favorite part of his breaks from school.

James Horstkamp

James Horstkamp is the man who established the foundation of Basford Creek Tree Farm, purchasing the property in 2004. For the last two decades, he's dedicated himself to teaching and sharing his love for the land and the holiday season with his family. Outside of the farm, James is a leader in the renewable sector, serving as the President of both Energy Select and Energy Impact, driven by his commitment to creating a better, cleaner future. James is excited to pass ownership of the farm to his children, and he looks forward to working alongside the next generation as they continue to build the legacy of Basford Creek Tree Farm.
